First International “SERVAS YOUTH” Meeting in the Southern Hemisphere
Dear Servas members, this project is focused on young people, on “YOUNG” matters and there is no age limit to participate. There is no limit to being young!
GENERAL INFORMATION
Date:
January 14th (Saturday) to January 21st (Saturday) of 2006.
The place:
Campamento SAC (Servicio Argentino de Campamentos/Argentine Camping Service).
Colonia Suiza - Bariloche – Provincia de Río Negro – República Argentina – Tel/fax (54-02944) 44-8508; (situated 22 km away from San Carlos de Bariloche city, right next to Goye rivulet and 1 km away from Cerro López).

How to get there:
All the transport to Bariloche and from there to the SAC (Colonia Suiza) shall be paid individually by each participant. You can get to Bariloche by car (1700 km from Buenos Aires), plane or bus.
- Plane:
You can get flight tickets from $ 400 for Argentine residents from USD 300 for foreigners. Also you can arrive directly from Chile, Brasil and another countries.
- Bus: The trip from Buenos Aires to Bariloche costs approximately $300 = USD 100 (actual price) and takes about 20 hrs.
- Car: Convenient if you have some more time and you have some stops in different tourist places on your way to Bariloche.
From Bariloche to the camp place you can get by public transportation (bus, $2), taxi or remisse for a maximum of $ 25 = USD 9. The PATAGONIA’06 organization team will fix a meeting point in Bariloche’s downtown where the travellers can get information of how to get to the SAC.
Registration:
The registration for PATAGONIA’06 will be on January the 14th (Saturday), Between 11.00 and 19.00 hrs. Presenting your certification of inscription, you will be given a credential, activities program and all the necessary material for the event. If someone should be arriving at some other time or day, we ask you to inform us beforehand.
Accommodation:
Accommodation is planned to be in cottages or tents without modifying the final price, the access to activities, or other kind of services
- Cottage: The “Cumelén” cottage, next to the Goye river, has 39 beds organised in 3 rooms with 2, one with 6, six with 4 and one with 3 beds, and 6 bathrooms. The places in the cottage will be occupied by a strict order of complete reservation.
- Tent: Once the places in the cottage are filled, the option is to sleep in tents next to the cottage, and use the sanitary installations of the camp place. If necessary, the organisation group will provide the tents but NOT the sleeping bags. It is necessary for participants who sleep in the tents to bring their own sleeping bags or to rent them in Bariloche.
The camp place has hot water 24 hrs a day for all participants. Everybody will share the same common place for the meals.
The price:
The price includes 4 daily meals, excursions, activities and workshops as detailed in the program. Children under 2 years old do not pay for their stay. Children between 2 and 8 years old will pay 50 % of the total price, while those over 8 years old will pay the 100 %. If anyone should, for any reason, participate in the event less days than planned, they will equally pay the total price. The price does not include transport.
- Locals: $ 240
- Foreigners: USD 160
SERVAS YOUTH informs that there is the possibility of economic collaboration in the price for those who ask for it. These requests will be evaluated and the interested person given an answer. We inform you that these prices were fixed according to the actual costs, their continuity is subjected to the maintenance of actual economic parameters.
The program:
Includes simultaneous activities, which will allow each participant the activity of his/her interest. There will be different proposals for young people and adults but without either being excluded. Some programmed activities are as following:
- Short trekking trips to Colonia Suiza (Swiss Colony) and the Panoramic Point
- 1 Day trekking trip and botany guided visit to Cerro López
- Thematic expositions: Participants are invited to propose presentations from their own country/region or from their Servas activities in their country/region.
- Workshop “Arts and peace”
- Workshops:
- Gypsum masks elaboration.
- Tango lessons.
- Salsa lessons.
- Cloth painting.
- Spanish lessons.
- Circular dances.
- The music as a cultural exchange element.
- Talks and debates. Concerning Servas in general and particularly Servas Youth.:
- The role of the youth in SERVAS.
- International Program of youth exchange.
- Possible programs to be developed at a local, national and international level.
- Personal experiences.
- Diversity meals.
- “PATAGONIA’06” manifest for the EGA (Extra General Assembly) in Italy.
There is the possibility of including, in the program, some activities proposed by the participants themselves. Those who wish to share their knowledge or activities should detail it in the Registration Form and send a description of the activity and necessary materials before November 15th 2005, so that its inclusion may be considered by the Patagonia ’06 organization team.
The program also provides some free times, either to be used as desired or to participate in any of the optional activities (with additional cost) like a visit to the Cerro Cathedral, to the city’s downtown, etc.
Conditions for participation:
All participants, foreign or national, must be Servas members and present their Letter of Introduction (LOI) with stamps valid until the end of the event.
The foreigners, adults and youth, must show their Letter of Introduction with stamps valid until the end of the event, without exceptions.
National Participants that are not included in the Servas List Argentina 2005 must show a certification of approval of the admission interview or the LOI with stamp valid until the end of the event. Participants under 18 years old must be under the strict responsibility of an adult.
Payment:
Reservations are transferable. Once the payment is made and if the trip can not be made, the reservation made can be transferred to another person. For this reason, there will be no refunds for paid reservations.
For organisation reasons, the deadline for making the reservation is October the 31st.
By November the 30th the payment must be completed. The dead line to everyone from Argentina will be the second one, November the 30th. People that need to be included after that date will be considered by the organisation.
National Participants: The reservation will be booked with the payment of $80, with a bank deposit in the following account “Banco Boston” N° 0501/01000968/66, (Caja de Ahorro en Pesos) under the name of Myrtha Comes.
Once the reservation is confirmed, the data of the deposit voucher (scanned or the operation number and date) with the participant’s personal information shall be sent by mail to: n33438[at]datamarkets.com.ar (for Myrtha Comes). cintia_a[at]arnet.com.ar, argentina[at]servas.org together with the Registration Form, one for each participant, whether adult, youth or children.
Foreign participants: The reservation must be confirmed by cheque for the total amount USD 160 for adults and children over 8 years old, USD 80 for children between 2 and 8 years old). The cheque must be remitted to “Servicio Argentino de Campamento Masculino S.C.A.” and sent by certificated mail or courier to the following postal address: “Cintia Amor – Doblas 117 – 6° B – (1424) Ciudad de Buenos Aires.”
The check must be remitted so that it can be retrieved only directly in the bank and only by the S.A.C.
There is the possibility to send cash by “Wester Union” if a cheque is too complicated. For this, please contact personally Pablo Chufeni (pablochfueni[at]yahoo.com.ar) to arrange the shipment and reception of the money.
Once the shipment is made, an e-mail must be sent with copy to the following addresses:
