SI MONTHLY NEWS OCTOBER 2005 Editorial

Team work, helping others

To try and make the front cover of SI News more attractive to younger people I have been getting my Year 8 students (12 and 13 years old) to think up designs. Part of the work has been to scan through last years copy for ideas for the theme for 2006. A number of them have felt that Team Work would be suitable. I agree with them. All over the world we in Servas should be working together as a team. And as a team we should not just be looking at helping ourselves but looking outwards and seeing how we can help others. After all we are a Peace organisation and giving help should be one of our remits.

This team work for helping others is exemplified by Servas Pakistan. They have taken on board that the Kashmiri Earthquake has caused major problems and they are setting out to do something about it. They are doing it in a practical way. Not all of us can be there but we can show our help by funding what they are doing. Please read their article on p2 and then donate to help them. I know that some countries are already doning this. May plenty more do so.
