SERVAS YOUTH REPORT 1º Half 2008 (January – June)

- Hi there to you all.
As you know Servas Youth produces a report twice a year. You can find all the previous reports on the web. Go and check! These last six months were really busy for us so we want to share our news with you and hear your feedback.

Regional and Youth conference “AUSTRALIA’09”
• Next January, 24th – 31st, 2009 Servas Australia will hold the next Servas Youth event. You must be there to blow out the first candle on the
• Servas 60th ANIVERSARY!!!
• Focus on the youth and the region.
• The team lead by Geoff Maltby has chosen the perfect venue, the “Fritz Roy Falls Conference Center”

• Spread it. Everyone must join us there as part of our celebrations for 60 years of SERVAS.
Music for Peace CD
• 26 peace songs from all around the world to promote Servas ideals. ( mp3 files )
• Will be distributed in the coming Servas Youth events in TURKEY and AUSTRALIA. You must have some copies for your coming event!!!
• This project didn’t request any Servas financial support. Only receives personal donations.

SYLE ’07 (Servas Youth Languages Experience)
• Offering one month to learn a foreign language abroad through Servas.
• This year we have NEW RECORD!!!
• The 4th edition is ready to go this second half of 2008, after six months of hard work.
• Reports “’05/’06/’07” on our web site.
• 20 countries involved. What about yours?!
• For the first time we have so many PORT CITIES offers and lack of travelers. We still have some opportunities for this session, and we are looking for travelers. Help to spread the news. The program is great but needs to be presented to every member. Everyone. HELP US !!!, come on…

Distant Voting
• We have presented and will present motions to be voted.
• Servas Youth is asking for a proper budget to follow the action plan approved in Latina’06.
• We do hope to count with your support !!!
International Youth meeting “ISTANBUL’08”
• July 19th – 26th 2008, in Istanbul, at the Sabanci University http://www.sabanciuniv.edu/eng
• We have a great list of 80 people from all around the world.
• The schedule includes workshops on Servas issues, cultural and social topics, excursions and lots of fun.

• The local team, lead by Evren + Omer has done a marvelous job. THANKS A LOT GUYS!!!
New National Youth Contacts
• Several countries have selected their “Local Youth Contact” to work with Servas Youth. List on the site.
• If your country still does not have a “Local Youth contact” appointed please do not wait any more.
• Together we can promote youth actions in your group.
You: * HELP US TO SPREAD THE NEWS OF SERVAS YOUTH. Send it to all the members at your National Group!!!
- Create a link from your web site to the servasyouth.org
- Look for candidates to SYLE, Working Group, Local Contact or any other youth action.
I’ll be waiting to hear from you. I want to know if you’ve got this report and what do you think about it. Your opinion is important to me, surely we can work together for Servas. So, come on. Get involved!!!
