AUSTRALIAN TO LEAD PEACE WALK FOR GANDHI AWARENESS
PEACE WALK CABOOLTURE TO BRISBANE
A five days long Peace Walk for creating an awareness about Mahatma Gandhi and his message is organized in Australia during 17th to 21st September 2008. The walk is organized by an Australian Gandhian, Garwin Brown. The walk will start from Caboolture and end at Brisbane. The distance of 73 km will be covered in 5 days. In between, they will interact with school and college students and some media people. Their 'walking song' will be 'Raghupati Raghav…'. People from different parts of the world will join the walk. Three Indians from Parijat Academy will also participate in the event

Volunteers for Peace
Here is a sample like minded nonprofit organization. They provide Servas Information to their travelers. I have interviewed a mother and 3 yr old child as traveler to the Czech Republic who will be volunteering in a Czech PreSchool project. The traveler came to our Servas monthly meeting and showed that a single parent can travel and volunteer.
Dezmela of Malawi is has been developing workcamps with Volunteers for Peace.

NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, is a remarkable case of institutional survival in the face of changing circumstances. It was created in 1949 to protect Western Europe from the Soviet threat, and in 1989 the Soviet threat vanished. Yet NATO not only survived the collapse of the Soviet Union but expanded, taking in all the former satellite states of Eastern Europe and even the Baltic republics that had been part of the Russian empire for more than two hundred years. But the Georgian debacle could break NATO.
