From SI Exco News
We will have an introductory teleconference on Jan 14th, 2005, GMT 6 PM time. This conference call is organized by the Hostlist Coordinator, as preparation for setting up a Hostlist Workshop group for the EGA at Latina in April 2006.
GMT-8, British Columbia Canada (Penny): 10 AM
GMT-5, Canada (Gary + Mike) 1 PM
GMT-2* DST, Brazil Sao Paulo (Roberto) 4 PM
GMT+1, Italy (Mario and Claudio): 7 PM
GMT+2, Israel (Rami) 8. PM
If other people are interested to participate they are asked to alert pakkio at gmail dot com (SI Hostlistcoordinator), with a brief email. Maximum number or participant is 10 due to limits of technology. (It is expected this limit will be overcome soon. Cost savings are coming, plus democracy, with these innovations.)
You can call the following number (US based):
+1 319 2560500
specifying proper access code which will be given by email.
as access code. (Teleconference allows up to 10 people connected using normal phone or through Skype). If it's not going to work this way on this page we will publish instructions for other teleconference solutions. Also: Keep open your Skype for Chat Messenger.
The main purpose of this telcon is to get to know these initial participants, and to set up a Host List Working Group. It will be based on experience of Agenda Working Group. HLG had already done a very good work in last months, but we need to have a more representation from delegates of member Countries. [Note input to Agenda from “Full Texts” http://www.servas.org/siexco/index.php/Full_text_of_Agenda_Items_submitted_-_excluding_the_Distant_Voting_motion
Our telcon would discuss:
- Review where in the agenda Hostlist issue will be workshopped and which formal sessions are planned. Spotting all countries submitting HL items and countries which might be interested.
1h 30' Day 2-4w (Apr. 4th) H-01 hostlist data issues (together with Officers nominations and SI Committees)
2h 00' Day 3-2w (Apr. 5th) H-02 hostlists quality (together with Officers accountability and SI Committees & Comms)
1h 30' Day 3-4w (Apr. 5th) Overflow workshops
Day 4-1 (Apr. 6th) Official formal votation after Distant Voting 1h?
- State what are the currently early findings of the Hostlist Group (HLG) from the Survey filled in last months
- Current concerns on Hostlist production and International Membership (26 member countries didn't provide in the last 2 years updated lists), some of them might be eligible for losing SI membership.
- Defining how Host List Working Group can be organized,
- who is going to lead or facilitate it,
- how can spread the voice and ask for new participants, Especially note Belgium, Brazil, EXCO (Claudio), France, Germany, Others?]
- which documents or activities must be prepared in advance before Latina.
- making work more authoritative.
As well, and independently of organizing some training at EGA, training should/could be planned having the whole Organization as target.
We could start, for instance, writing down
- what the HLSA is
- how to access the HLSA
- how to download and upload documents
a list of benefits using the HLSA can bring to national groups.
This could be a 1 page document, easily e-mailable to all national groups. (Roberto)
we can divide some tasks or seek for further help so to have this workshop really useful in Latina.
