EGA 2006, Report from the nominations committee

From SI Exco News

Servas International Nominations Committee

Dear Nominees for positions in SI April 2006

Date: 28 April 2006

General Assembly

From 2 until 8 April the extraordinary General Assembly of Servas International took place in Latina (near Rome) in Italy.

I am happy that I can tell my impression that it was a very constructive General Assembly, due to almost all delegates trying to make this meeting into a success. The delegates, Exco and all other people involved in whatever role have been working very hard, and the meeting between old friends was as ever very hearty. We met many new friends and many old friends.

Motion of the Nominations Committee.

The Nominations Committee hopes that also the persons that were ready to work for Servas International but were not elected into an office will get the chance to do work for Servas. It will make those persons better known within Servas International. That is important because every time there are people nominated especially those that have done work for SI in the past tend to be elected. An understandable thing. Therefore the Nominations Committee came up with the motion below which was distributed under the delegates. But, due to a lack of time in the meeting there was no vote of the delegates. The Nominations Committee asks all nominees, whether elected or not, to take note of the intention of our motion.

Motion for the General Assembly of Servas international 2-8 April 2006 in Latina (Italy)

The Nominations Committee:

Seeing that there are so many nominations for so many Servas International Offices

Feeling that all these people are of good will to help Servas International for functioning better and better

Knowing that only one person will be appointed in a post

Knowing that in this way many persons of good will not have the chance to work for Servas International,

… and in that group are many persons have only a few years experience in the SI organisation,

Moves that:

The elected officers will do their best to involve as many as possible of the nominees not elected

… in assisting work for Servas International, whether it be in work related to the post or posts for which they were nominated or any other work

… in this way giving these people the chance to know the SI organisation better and make them enthusiastic to fulfil SI offices in the future.

With this letter the work of the Nominations Committee has been brought to a conclusion. We thank all of you for your willingness to be a candidate for one or more of the offices.

Servas International is a wonderful valuable organisation. In Peace,
