Extraordinary GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2006

eGA2006 Update No. 7

Dear National Secretary

Registration Application form and Funding

In my eGA2006 Update No. 6 you were informed that the Registration Application form was available for downloading from our website at www.servas.org/siexco. The form had been available for a few days but an amendment had been made to the area on ‘funding’. You may have downloaded the first version of this form which stated that applications requiring funding from S.I. had a deadline of 31 October 2005. The ‘updated’ Registration Application form now shows an amended funding deadline of 30 November 2005.

After EGA2006 - where is the next General Assembly to be convened?

Delegates at the April 2006 EGA will discuss and vote on when the next General Assembly is to be convened. So I ask you this question.

“IS YOUR COUNTRY PREPARED TO HOST THE NEXT GENERAL ASSEMBLY?”

Have you never had the exciting challenge of inviting Servas members from all over the world to visit your country to participate in lively debate, cultural exchange and Servas friendship? Does your country have a strong ground support of Servas members willing to participate? If you think you can be part of this and can handle it, then I ask you to please come to Latina next April with your country’s proposal to host the next General Assembly.

NOMINATIONS FOR POSITIONS AS S.I. OFFICERS AND S.I. COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The Nominations Committee will shortly be contacting all National Secretaries seeking applicants who wish to nominate for positions as S.I. Officers also S.I. Committee Members at EGA2006. On receipt of correspondence from the Nominations Committee, I would encourage all National Secretaries to make it widely known amongst their Servas members that nominations are being called for.

SERVAS INDIA

Many of you over past years attending General Assemblies will have met Harivallabh Bhai who was the founder member of Servas India. Word has been received from our dear friends in India of his failing health. Servas India National Secretary Dr. Ramesh Sharma is currently visiting the ashram at Baroda and I have asked him to give Harivallabh Bhai the news that “we are saddened by the news of his ill health and offer a prayer for his well being". I am told that Harivallabh Bhai is considered as being the ‘Mahatma Gandhi of Servas India’.

In peace and friendship
